Elena Kissin, MSc
Elena Kissin MSc, provides a wealth of experience to the Embryology lab. With both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Moscow State University, Elena started her professional life as a research scientist, first as a microbiologist working for the Russian space program, and then as an immunologist at the Rockefeller University and at Cornell University.
Despite her successes, Elena longed for an opportunity to help patients in a more direct way. Her meticulous laboratory habits easily translated to the IVF lab, and, in 1991, she started to work with Dr. Jacques Cohen. Since that time, she has become an indispensable member of Dr. Garrisi’s lab. Her experience studying immunologic aspects of sperm function has made her particularly adept at all types of sperm preparation and analysis. Elena’s expertise is essential to the ability of the Institute to treat an important component of its patient population – those patients with extreme examples of male factor infertility.
