Margaret Graf Garrisi, M.D.

Medical Director of Assisted Reproduction

Margaret Garrisi, M.D., brings substantial expertise and experience in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology, as well as infertility, to her position as Medical Director of Assisted Reproduction in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology. A specialist in many areas of reproductive medicine, Dr. Garrisi has completed important research, including studies focusing on the use of laser surgery to repair tubal problems and endometriosis, two common causes of infertility. She also has special expertise with operative hysteroscopy for the treatment of fibroids, uterine polyps and adhesions.

Prior to joining the Institute, Dr. Garrisi practiced at the Center for Reproductive Medicine and Infertility at Cornell University Medical Center, and served as an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cornell’s Weill Medical College, where she had completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Garrisi completed her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. An attending physician in IVF for close to 20 years, she is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, as well as reproductive endocrinology.

Her capabilities as a teacher and researcher in obstetrics and gynecology, reproductive endocrinology, infertility and in vitro fertilization are an important resource for patients and the medical community. She has shared her substantial knowledge and expertise through peer lectures in her field and as coauthor of numerous medical journals, book chapters and medical abstracts.

Dr. Garrisi earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Canisius College in 1975, and her Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1979. Among her professional memberships, she is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of both the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the New York Obstetrical Society.
